Disability & Send

We believe that sport and physical activity should be available for everyone, regardless of ability, and its especially important that people with disabilities and special educational needs are given opportunities to participate and develop fundamental skills.

We continuously look to overcome barriers and create opportunities for people with disabilities to have fun, learn new skills and meet new people, all in a safe and supported environment.

What we do

Our passionate staff are committed to better understand and be aware of the needs of people with disabilities. We work with other local organisations who support our provisions and collaborate to think up new ideas for projects throughout the year.

It’s also important that we listen to the voice of people with disabilities to adapt our activities.

  • Ability Counts Football: Our ability counts football provision offers training to young people and juniors with disabilities, regardless of ability. Our supportive staff facilitate fun and enjoyable learning sessions with an opportunities to meet and socialise with new people.
  • SEND Youth Group: Our SEND youth club in partnership with Rotherham Parents Carers Forum (RPCF) allows young people with SEND to participate in fun and engaging activities in a friendly, supportive environment at the NY stadium. The session is open to young people aged 8-18 and involves many indoor activities such as game consoles, pool, air hockey and team building activities.
