Rotherham United Community Trust (RUCT) is proud to announce a generous £5,000 donation from Connect Healthcare Rotherham in support of the Trust’s 50K Power Play campaign.

This incredible contribution will fund one brand-new Powerchair, providing a life-changing opportunity for a player within RUCT’s Powerchair Football programme.

The 50K Power Play campaign was launched to raise £50,000 to replace essential equipment and secure the future of Powerchair Football in South Yorkshire. The programme is currently the only provision of its kind in the region, offering inclusive opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities to play, compete, and thrive.

Much of the current equipment is now outdated or no longer fit for purpose, making donations like this vital to ensuring the programme can continue and grow.

RUCT and Connect Healthcare already share a strong and impactful partnership through the Rotherham Healthwave programme, where a wide range of health and wellbeing sessions are delivered across the community. This latest support further strengthens that relationship and demonstrates a shared commitment to improving lives across Rotherham.

Dylan Hadley, Head of Communities and Inclusion at RUCT, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Connect Healthcare for their generous donation. Funding an entire Powerchair is a huge milestone within our campaign and will make a real difference to our players. This support helps us move closer to our goal of creating more opportunities and a sustainable future for Powerchair Football in Rotherham.”

The impact of this donation extends far beyond the pitch. For participants and their families, access to suitable equipment means greater independence, confidence, and the chance to be part of a team and community.

Chris Barnes, Chief Operating Officer at Connect Healthcare Rotherham, told us:

“We have been working with RUCT for a number of years now, and we are delighted to be able to support this wonderful effort.  We are so proud of the Rotherham Healthwave and the work we have done with RUCT on this and other projects.  We are committed to improving the lives of the people in our communities”

With this donation, the campaign takes another significant step towards its £50,000 target, helping to ensure players can train safely, compete at higher levels, and continue their journey within the sport.

RUCT would like to extend its sincere thanks to Connect Healthcare for their ongoing support and commitment to making a positive difference in the local Rotherham community.

There are still many opportunities for individuals and businesses to get involved and support the 50K Power Play. Every contribution brings the campaign closer to transforming disability football in South Yorkshire.
