Jacqueline’s Journey to Fitness and Confidence
At RUCT, we believe that it’s never too late to make a positive change, and Jacqueline Webb is a perfect example of that.
Jacqueline, from Rawmarsh, joined our Health & Wellbeing programme after hearing about it through friends. Having retired, she was looking for a way to stay active and improve her flexibility, with a clear goal in mind: to feel more able and maintain her independence.
She began attending our Dance Fit & Body Tone sessions and hasn’t looked back since. Now, over a year later, Jacqueline is a regular participant and a valued member of the group.
Before joining RUCT, Jacqueline described herself as wanting to become “more able and flexible.” Like many people in retirement, she was mindful of staying physically active and avoiding the limitations that can come with reduced mobility.
Taking that first step into a new environment can be daunting, but with encouragement from friends and a welcoming community atmosphere, Jacqueline quickly found her place.
Since joining the sessions, Jacqueline has seen remarkable improvements in her physical health and overall wellbeing.
She now describes herself as:
- Fitter and more flexible
- More confident in her abilities
- Able to move more freely and independently
One of her biggest achievements has been regaining a level of mobility that many take for granted, she can now get up from the floor without any assistance. For Jacqueline, this represents more than just physical progress; it’s about maintaining dignity, independence, and confidence in everyday life.
She also shared that she now feels much better about herself and no longer worries about becoming “old and unable to help myself in the future.”
For Jacqueline, the programme has been about more than physical activity, it’s been about enjoyment, connection, and feeling good.
In her own words: “A great scheme, a lot of fun. Feeling good about participating. Age is not a barrier.”
This sense of positivity and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do at RUCT.
Jacqueline’s goal moving forward is simple but powerful: to keep fit.
Her journey highlights the long-term impact of consistent, community-based activity, not just in improving physical health, but in boosting confidence and quality of life.
Jacqueline’s story is a reminder that small steps can lead to big changes. Through regular participation, support from peers, and a welcoming environment, she has transformed her outlook and strengthened her independence.
At RUCT, we are proud to support individuals like Jacqueline in leading healthier, happier lives, proving every day that age is not a barrier to wellbeing.
