Rotherham United Community Trust is proud to celebrate a milestone moment as four talented young players from our Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) take the next step on their footballing journey – with two making history as the first ETC graduates to sign for our senior women’s teams.
Sophia S has officially signed first team forms with Rotherham United Women, joining Isabella R-D, who also progressed from our ETC earlier this year. This marks a major achievement for both players – and for the development pathway as a whole – demonstrating the impact of the ETC in supporting young, local talent.
Sophia’s journey is particularly special, having first been identified through our Future Stars Holiday Camps before becoming a founding member of the ETC, where she has trained and developed over the past three years.
Closely following in their footsteps are Ruby D and Lyla R-P, who have both signed with our Women’s U21s side. Their progression ensures they will remain an important part of the Rotherham United family as they continue to grow and develop in senior football.
These signings mark an exciting moment for the club, as we proudly celebrate the first four ETC players to progress into the senior women’s set-up. Their stories are a shining example of what’s possible through dedication, talent, and the right support – and they serve as an inspiration to the next generation coming through the system.
First Team Manager Adam Rawlings said:
These four girls epitomise the strides our club is making in bringing our women’s section together. We owe the success of the pathway to the brilliant individuals delivering within it.
For such young players to be composed enough to compete in open age football – and even first team football – is an absolute credit to their character, hard work, and commitment to both themselves and the club. We’re incredibly proud of them for making the step so impressively and continuing their careers at Rotherham United. We now look forward to seeing how far they can go with us.
Everyone at Rotherham United Football Club, the Community Trust and the ETC would like to extend their congratulations to Sophia, Isabella, Ruby, and Lyla. This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
