On 16 May 2025, teams from across Rotherham came together at the iconic AESSEAL New York Stadium for an unforgettable evening of football, community spirit, and charitable giving — the Business Cup 2025.

Jointly hosted by Rotherham United Community Trust (RUCT) and Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, the tournament brought together businesses, organisations and local supporters for a friendly but fiercely competitive event — all united in raising funds for people living with dementia in our community.

A huge thank you goes to every team that took part, including:
Everyone Active – Sheffield, JM Ross Construction Ltd, Hares, GWB Harthills LLP, Mattress Online, S Robshaw Plumbing and Gas, Shawford Interiors F.C., Thomas Rotherham College, RMBC, WAYV. Talk and Broadband, Danieli UK, All About Football 1 & 2, and the Places Leisure teams from Maltby, Aston, and Rotherham, alongside the fantastic squads from Rotherham United Community Trust. Your energy, commitment and generosity made the evening one to remember.

Supporting Dementia Care in Rotherham

The Business Cup wasn’t just about football — it was about making a real difference in people’s lives. Funds raised will be split between two vital causes:

🧠 Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity’s Dementia Appeal
The charity is aiming to raise £250,000 to enhance care for dementia patients across the borough. Funded improvements include:

  • Safer, more accessible hospital environments.
  • Reminiscence-style furnishings and sensory elements to reduce confusion and anxiety.
  • Family-friendly facilities to help loved ones stay close during challenging times.

⚽ Rotherham United Community Trust’s Dementia and Wellbeing Programmes
RUCT delivers a wide range of support services for older adults, including the Millers Memory Club, care home activities, and partnerships with the Rotherham Dementia Voice group — all designed to reduce isolation, promote healthy living, and ensure no one faces dementia alone.

A True Team Effort

The Business Cup 2025 highlighted what’s possible when a community comes together — teamwork, compassion, and a shared determination to do good. It was a special evening full of memorable moments, both on and off the pitch.

To everyone who played, donated, volunteered or supported — thank you. Your contribution is creating a lasting impact across Rotherham.

Huge congratulations to Everyone Active Sheffield, who took home the trophy for the second year running!

And we’re not done yet — we’re excited to be hosting the event again next year!
