At Rotherham United Community Trust, we pride ourselves on creating structured pathways that support young players at every stage of their footballing journey. One standout example is Jensen Blogg, a 16-year-old central defender who has progressed through our development system to make his debut in Step 6 football — all while studying at the Rotherham United Sports College.

Jensen’s journey began at the U14 age group, where he joined the RUCT set-up and played for two years in the Junior Premier League. These foundational years allowed Jensen to develop technically, tactically, and mentally — playing against strong opposition and training in a professional environment.

His potential and attitude on and off the pitch saw him grow rapidly, with his coaches recognising him as a player to watch.

In 2024, Jensen took the next step in his journey by joining the Rotherham United Sports College. He spent his first year with our Shadow Squad, gaining valuable experience in the National Football Youth League, where so far he has made 18 appearances across the season.

This consistent game time at a high level gave him the platform to test himself against quality opposition and develop the discipline and match sharpness needed to compete beyond youth football.

Thanks to his dedication, progression, and continued development, Jensen earned an exciting opportunity — making his senior debut for Maltby Main in their Step 6 NCEL Division 1 fixture against Horbury Town.

This is a huge milestone for any young player, and it demonstrates how the RUFC pathway offers not just education and development, but real opportunities for progression into the semi-professional and professional game.

Jensen’s journey is still just beginning. With his first season at the college complete and senior football now part of his experience, he’s in a fantastic position to push further — both academically and athletically.

He embodies what the RUCT pathway is all about: talent, work ethic, progression, and opportunity.

If you’re a young player looking to take your football to the next level while gaining a high-quality education, the Rotherham United Sports College could be the perfect next step.
