RUCT Name Jordan Richings as Premier League Community Captain

Jordan has been chosen as Rotherham United’s 2025 Community Captain for his incredible commitment to his community and for his hard work as a coach at Rotherham United Community Trust.

On receiving the award, Jordan said: “I’m honoured to be named Rotherham United’s 2025 Community Captain. Football has the power to bring people together and through my work with Rotherham United Community Trust I have been given the chance to make a real difference, and I’m grateful for the amazing people I get to work with every day. This award means a lot, but the real reward is seeing the impact we have in the community. I’m excited to keep doing what I love and hopefully inspire others along the way!”

Dylan Hadley, Youth & Inclusion Manager at Rotherham United Community Trust said: “The commitment and effort from Jordan has been outstanding. This award is a well-earned recognition of his hard work and commitment to making a real difference in our community.

He started as a volunteer with Rotherham United Community Trust last February, and in that time, he’s not only secured employment with the trust but also taken on even more responsibility. From Premier League Kicks and Premier League Fans Fund Sessions to supporting United 4 Communities and the Boys Emerging Talent Centre – helping young players find pathways into the academy – his impact has been huge.

We are so proud to have Jordan on our team and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!”

Please join us in giving Jordan a huge round of applause as we present his award pitch-side at today’s match!

Team Ted Foundation

Today’s charity partner is the amazing local charity, the Team Ted Foundation. At the Team Ted Foundation, they’re a small but dedicated charity focused on making a difference in the lives of children with cancer or terminal illnesses.

The Foundation was established in memory of Teddy. Teddy was an extraordinary, fun-loving, and adventurous 6-year-old who brought joy to everyone around him.

In 2023 doctors delivered the heartbreaking news that Teddy had a potentially cancerous growth. Teddy had High Risk (Stage 4) Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. The diagnosis was devastating, turning their world upside down.

Teddy, being the brave boy he was, didn’t give up. Even with the tough news, he and his family decided to try a different type of chemotherapy. Although they saw some positive results at first, the cancer was just too strong, and Teddy was given only a few days to live.

In those final days, Teddy asked to go home, to be surrounded by his family. Richard and Katie honoured his wish, bringing him home from Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Just 24 hours after returning home, Teddy passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of courage, love, and hope.

Throughout his battle, Teddy remained strong and full of life. He faced each challenge with bravery and a smile, inspiring everyone who knew him. To honour Teddy’s incredible spirit, the Team Ted Foundation was created. The foundation’s mission is to continue Teddy’s legacy by helping other families create special memories during difficult times, without the worry of financial strain. The foundation also provides essential support, such as furniture and equipment, to help children spend their last moments at home, surrounded by their families, just as Teddy did.

St Bede’s Join Us For Community Takeover!

Today, we are honoured to welcome one of RUCT’s partner schools, St Bede’s Catholic Primary School! Where 12 lucky pupils have been chosen to take part in a Community Takeover, they will be joining RUCT and RUFC staff all over the Stadium at today’s match to work behind the scenes. They will get an insight on what it is like to work at Rotherham United, and the different jobs that are essential to a matchday!

From working with the kitman, physio, to the FanZone DJ! Make sure you give them a wave if you see them working hard with our team!
