The Active Through Football department at Rotherham United Community Trust are thrilled to see the positive impact our Fit 4 U sessions are making within the community. With a recent expansion, our reach and ability to offer affordable options for new members is only growing. With attendance now exceeding 18 members per session—a significant increase from previous numbers—we’re able to provide even greater accessibility and a range of activities to meet the needs of our ever-growing member base.
The Fit 4 U programme is a great example of this success. It’s more than just exercise; it’s a supportive space for members to pursue their health goals. One inspiring story comes from Chris Osbourne, who shared his recent health milestone with the Fit 4 U group:
“Morning, guys! I’m thrilled to share some good news. I had my annual diabetic blood test yesterday, and this morning they told me my HbA1C reading is now 48. I’m only one reading away from being pre-diabetic, which means they’re really pleased with my lifestyle improvements. My goal now is to get down to a reading of 42, which is considered normal, and hopefully reduce my medication as well! Playing football on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays has been a major factor in this progress. I’m so grateful to everyone for organizing these sessions—you might not realise it, but you’re truly changing lives! Thank you all, and sorry, I’m just buzzing with excitement over these results!”

Chris’s story is a testament to the life-changing benefits of staying active and engaging in community-led health initiatives. His journey demonstrates how consistent physical activity, supported by a strong network, can lead to significant health improvements and renewed motivation.
As Chris suggested, he’s eager to share this achievement with a broader audience, which could serve as a powerful message to others. We hope his story inspires more people to join us at Fit 4 U, where together we’re building healthier, happier lives through fitness and friendship.
Rotherham United Community Trust remains committed to supporting our members and ensuring that health and wellness are accessible to everyone in our community. Thank you to everyone involved in making these sessions possible and to our members for their commitment and enthusiasm.
