Kimberworth Park Under 10 Yellows football team play in the Sheffield & District Junior League. The team, in their first season together are a diverse set of lads from all different backgrounds – living all over Rotherham and beyond – united by the beautiful game.
In a short space of time, they have formed a special bond over their love of football. The lads have formed friendships that see them cheering one another on and picking each other up when they are down – on and off the pitch, showing that football is more than just a game, it’s also about looking after others, supporting each other, not just themselves.
In this spirit, this season, the team have chosen to follow in the footsteps of the Millers last season and support Rotherham Hospice as their chosen charity. The hospice is close to the hearts of families of lads in the team, having had the support of the hospice for loved ones. The team have pledge that throughout the season with different fundraising events, they will raise money to support the hospice with the incredible work they do. The team have raised funds already through football cards, raffles and tuck shops with future and fundraising events such as bag packing at supermarkets, sponsored sports challenges, fun runs, quiz nights, litter picking, raffles and more to continue to bring in the funding to help those who look to the hospice for support.
Today, the team will be presenting their first cheque to Rotherham Hospice in front of the Rotherham United fans, showing that football and looking after others in our communities stand shoulder to shoulder.
