In celebration of Black History Month, Rotherham United Community Trust recently held a Premier League Primary Stars Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Day at the New York Stadium. The event brought together 154 young people and 23 school teachers, offering a day full of educational and engaging activities focused on promoting inclusivity and understanding.

Workshops throughout the day covered various important topics, including anti-discrimination, LGBTQ+ rainbow laces awareness, and combating hate crime. Participants also engaged with the Arthur Wharton Foundation, which highlights the legacy of the first Black professional footballer. The day featured inclusive games to ensure everyone could take part, and sessions on anti-bullying reinforced the importance of kindness and respect. Rotherham United first team players Joe Hungbo & Dillon Phillips also shared their experiences and feelings of equality, diversity & inclusion.
The event was also part of the Premier League’s “No Room For Racism” initiative, which aims to address racism in football and wider society. It provided a platform to educate young people on the significance of equality and to inspire positive change within their communities funded and supported through Premier League Primary Stars.
