What Are The Benefits Of Smart Meters Within Your Home?

With a smart meter on your team, you can take control of your energy bills. When you’re on a tight budget it can be a struggle to make ends meet. Even when you’re doing everything you can to save money.

A smart meter could make things a bit easier. Here’s how:

Seeing how much energy you’ve used

Smart meters can help you save energy, but it’s not automatic.

Many people find the in-home display useful. It allows you to have more information about your energy usage. This could help you work out how to save energy and money around the home. For example, by switching the TV off at the wall.

Automated meter readings

Unlike traditional meters, a smart meter sends your gas and electricity readings directly to your energy supplier so you shouldn’t have to. That’s one less chore to do, very handy!

Say goodbye to estimated bills

Having a smart meter means getting a bill based on how much energy you used – not an estimate. This could take some of the guesswork out of balancing your budget.

How does a Smart Meter work?

1. The smart meter records your energy use, as you use it.

2. The in home display shows how much energy you’re using, and what you’ve spent.

3. The smart meter automatically sends readings to your energy supplier.

4. You get a bill based on the amount of gas and electricity you used.

Andy’s Man Club

Andy’s Man Club is a national support network that run talking groups for men who have either been through a storm, are currently going through a storm, have a storm brewing in life or just want to meet a good group of people with the aim of improving one another. No referral, no registration and no charge. Even the brew and biscuits are free!

Much like the support people give to cancer patients with November, Andy’s Man club (AMC) is a men’s suicide prevention charity, following the death of a man called Andy Roberts. The main aim of the group is to get men talking. There’s bravado and banter, but very few serious conversations.

We provide peer-to-peer support, through structured weekly meetings allowing men to talk openly, honestly, confidentially and without judgement in a safe environment.

We do not provide counselling but encourage the group to support, understand and respect group members.

What we do:

  • The Group offers peer-to-peer support for men over 18 who:
  • Are currently or have experienced mental health issues
  • Are going through any kind of personal crisis and just need to speak to others about how they feel
  • Are struggling with any issue and need an outlet and need to be heard
  • Are feeling lonely and isolated

All groups meet every Monday at 7pm, except bank holidays.
