LGBT History Month

Rotherham United Community Trust are proud to be supporting LGBT History Month, and we will take this month to celebrate lesbian, gay, bi and trans people within the UK and look at the work that we do within the Trust to give people in the LGBT community a voice.

We are advocates for LGBT acceptance within the football community, and have been able to host our own Rotherham United LGBT group over the last 4 years, called ‘Proud Millers’. Creating a safe space for LGBTQ+ fans to talk football, how we could improve inclusivity, and to create a sense of community.

Football is for everyone, here at Rotherham United we strive to ensure that everyone has a chance to be involved in football, regardless of age, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or belief, ability or disability.

During this month the RUCT team will be within schools, and the community delivering awareness workshops to young people on all things Rainbow and Pride related.

Rotherham United Community Trust are happy to be supporting the revamp of the Rotherham Pride in 2024. Mat, who is part of the Rotherham Pride team, told us “Rotherham Pride is back in town, so dust off those gladrags and come on down. We’re coming back stronger than ever before, it’s an event you don’t want to miss for sure. So save the date the 8th of June, and follow or socials for news coming soon! From music and acts to plenty of stalls a lively atmosphere for one and for all. A day to be proud of who you are, Pride welcomes those near and from a far. So go on those socials and search Rotherham Pride, an event, a community where you don’t have to hide.”
