Healthy Holidays – January 2024

As the New Year comes around, so do our Healthy Holiday camps starting on the 2nd of January until the 5th. Our Healthy Holiday camps have been a huge success over the years, and we are grateful to be working alongside RMBC, Places Leisure, Fareshare and Rotherham Parents Carers Forum.
For many children across Rotherham they can access our holiday camps for free, if they receive free school meals, children accessing Pupil Referral Unit or alternative provision, if they receive any support from Rotherham Council Social Care or Early Help Teams and much more.
Running for 4 hours a day, full of sports and fun activities, along with a free meal provided every day. You can join us at the New York Stadium, in Maltby, Aston, Wickersley and many more places.
Find out if your child is eligible, and sign up by scanning the QR code!

Let us reintroduce our More Than Football project!

As we move into our third year of the More Than Football programme (also known as the Active Through Football programme), we have taken the last couple of months to review the last two years we have delivered and re-evaluate where we’re at and which direction we want to go in over the next few years.
The More Than Football programme focuses on three target areas in Rotherham; Eastwood, Kimberworth and Maltby. This programme is genuinely needs-led, designed and delivered by the community for the community. The programme targets new audiences and places which aren’t currently taking part in physical activity, and adopts a new model of codelivery.

The More Than Football programme will also support the Moving Rotherham partnership in delivering a transformational behaviour change programme and deliver their aim of ‘people in Rotherham being proud to live in and contribute to stronger, thriving communities by engaging with physical activity or sport’.
The plans will be based predominately on engaging key participants through the delivery of recreational and informal activity, with aims of;

  1. Increasing participation in different forms of football.
  2. Increasing participation in different physical activity/sport.
  3. Providing opportunities for the community to encourage behavioural and mind set change, to encourage leading a healthy active and social lifestyle.
  4. Decreasing loneliness by bringing people together through alternative provisions such as coffee mornings, walking groups, group fitness classes and much more.
