As the summer holidays approach, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are planning for the summer healthy holiday camps (HAF). Since 2018, our holiday activities and food programmes have supported many children who receive free school meals as well as many others.

We operate our HAF programmes alongside our Future Stars camps to continue supporting children out of school who may need a helping hand, as research shows that school holidays can be a pressure point in the home for some families.
Our aim is to create a positive impact on children and young people within our community. Through this programme we encourage healthy eating and being active, along with ensuring all the educational activities are engaging and enriching to promote a fun learning experience to help develop life skills.
At the most recent camps over the Easter Holidays, we once again saw first hand the impact that this programme had on more than 1000 children from across Rotherham. The children enjoyed everything from football, dance, performing arts, swimming and much more.
We spoke to some of the young people that participated in the last HAF programme and how it has helped them, Henry said “I like coming here because you make loads of new friends, it’s good for you and you get to loads of exercise”.
Jessie, who also attended one of the sessions at Parkgate Astro with friends told us, “We like coming to Parkgate Astro because it’s so much fun”. Alongside Kye who highlighted that, “I like coming to football camp because I get loads of food!”.
