Last week, we had the pleasure of providing more than 400 of our participants the unique opportunity to play on the pitch at the AESSEAL New York Stadium!
From our youngest participants aged just 18 months from our Mini Millers sessions to our eldest participant in their 70s enjoyed their sessions on the pitch as part of a week-long community takeover on Rotherham United’s pitch.
Almost 30 sessions took place on the pitch – an opportunity that will stick in the minds of our participants for the rest of their lives.
Jonathan Allan, Community Programme Manager at RUCST, said: “It was fantastic for us to be able to invite over 400 participants from across our football programmes onto the hallowed turf last week.
“Participants aged from 18 months to 70 years old, boys, girls, women and men of all ages, abilities and physical capabilities getting what may well be a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in front of their loved ones at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
“Thanks must go to everyone at the football club for giving us unrestricted access over the week, especially the groundsmen. Also thanks to Elior for opening up the refreshment kiosk and to all our hardworking staff for working consecutive late nights and early mornings in order to facilitate it.
“You simply can’t get these kind of opportunities anywhere else in Rotherham.”
