More than 1000 children from across Rotherham have this week enjoyed a range of our holiday camps and football camps held across venues around the town.
Players from Rotherham United also joined our camps to host question and answer sessions, pose in pictures and sign autographs.
First team players Domingos Quina, Leo Hjelde, Conor Washington, Tyler Blackett, Shane Ferguson and Cohen Bramall visited our camps across Rotherham and took time to meet children and find out more about our holiday programmes
During Easter 2023, we ran a comprehensive healthy holiday programme (HAF) alongside our Future Stars football camps. Our Future Stars camps saw in excess of 100 participants attend each day.
Our HAF programme saw children enjoy sessions from across football, dance, performing arts, yoga, music, multi sports, swimming and more. Our Future Stars football camps saw children enjoy sessions delivered by our fully qualified coaches. The camps included fun football training, games and tournaments
Jonny Allen, Community Programme Manager from Rotherham United Sports Community Trust, said: “It’s been a fantastic couple of weeks delivering camps and facilitating sessions for young people.
“It’s always great to welcome our players to the camps as well as they really are role models for the children. Each player took time to answer their questions, sign autographs and get involved in the photos.
“We know these are the memories and moments that will stay in the minds of children for a long time and we’re proud to be a part of that!”
Jonny also thanks Fareshare South Yorkshire for providing food and drink for the HAF camps.
He added: “we are delighted to have continued our partnership with Fareshare South Yorkshire allowing us to offer additional snacks to the children and provide essential items such as bread and fruit for all our families.”
