We gave two very lucky children, Jack and Thomas the full Millers experience they will never forget!

We welcomed two very special guests, Jack and Thomas to the AESSEAL New York Stadium this week for Rotherham United home fixture vs Blackburn Rovers. Jack, Thomas and their sister, Megan are currently working with the Barnardo’s Young Carers support network in Rotherham, getting that extra bit of help and support they need which keeps them engaged with different funded activities and youth groups.

Barnardo’s Charity supports children and young people aged 8-18 in Rotherham who are looking after a family member who has a serious illness, disability (including mental health and substance misuse). They work with the whole family to make a long-term difference. Barnardo’s support worker, Rebecca reached out RUCST after learning that Jack loves football and is a huge Rotherham United fan. Community Programme Manager, Jonny Allan heard about these wonderful children and knew the Trust could offer them something special. Just before Christmas, we invited Jack for a full behind the scenes stadium tour at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. Jack (pictured) was treated to a peak inside the changing rooms, took part in his very own press conference and was taken pitch side to stand in Matt Taylors shoes!

Liane- “These recent months have made me cry with joy to see how amazing you have been with Jack. If it wasn’t for Barnardo’s, Jonny Allan and The Trust none of this would have been possible”

“He loves Rotherham United so to see the stadium, the changing rooms and to meet all the players is something he will never forget”

Community Programme Manager, Jonny Allan said “As soon as we heard about the tough time Jack had been having we wanted to give him a special experience worthy of the special young man he is.”

Here at Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, we are always looking to support and provide opportunities like this in the community. Supporting young people matters, Jack, Thomas and Megan matter, Every Miller Matters.
