Everyone at Rotherham United Community Trust was delighted to be able to deliver the 2022 Winter HAF programme. It really is a team effort with the whole trust pulling together to offer an amazingly positive experience for the children.
In 2022 our programme was delivered in partnership with 7 organisations, in 11 different places. We utilised over 90 staff & volunteers, we had staff from local schools and self-employed experts as well as swim teachers and gym instructors from places leisure centres, boxing coaches, cheerleaders, dancers supporting our contracted and casual staff teams. There were 5,091 attendances and welcomed 380 different participants at Easter, 607 during the summer and 216 during the Christmas programme, many of whom are repeat attendees who have and will hopefully continue to benefit from a healthy, safe and engaging place to spend their time during the holidays, with familiar, consistent faces on the staff team.
The HAF programme does bring in a large chunk of funding and is therefore vitally important in ensuring that other projects and programmes can continue to run, it has provided new equipment, kit and resources and paid for a lot of staff CPD across all departments, however, I am sure all of us realise the true value of the project is that we are providing a safe space for children that may not have access to one during school holidays, we are helping families with their childcare costs and their food bills at a time when support is needed more than ever.
We should be really proud of the fact that children keep coming back. They do this because of you all and the relationships you build with those children and families. 😊

I am already working on the proposal for 2023 and your feedback is so important, along with participant and parent feedback, in making sure we continue to develop the programme.
As with all of our 2022 HAF programme we once again utilised the high-quality facilities and staff from Places Leisure in Wath, Aston, Rotherham and Maltby and provided a creative offer in partnership with Triple Threat Theatre Academy near Thurcroft. At our Parkgate Astro facility we teamed up with Rotherham Parent Carer Forum to provide expert care for children with additional needs and at the New York Stadium we once again worked with Simon from 90minute Music, Phil Sheppard (Author & Illustrator) and Chris Clyburn (Chef) to offer the children something a little bit different!
We recruited teachers and teaching assistants from partner schools to support our core team and all in all 49 staff delivered 140 hours of healthy activities across 7 venues to 439 participants in the week before Christmas.
We are proud to be able to offer such a varied offer and we know that we couldn’t do this all ourselves which is why we are so happy to continue to work in partnership with other businesses and individuals to make our HAF programme so special.
HAF WILL RETURN 2023!
