The Rotherham community, the club and the Trust have all come together to help donate over 500 items for our foodbank drive for local charities.
During a difficult time for all, our inclusion department have been working with The Trussell Trust to support the following charities, Liberty Church, Hope Church and Swinton Lock Activity Centre. Throughout November we encouraged everybody to try and donate what they can and to do something good for somebody else this winter.
Using our final home game before the Christmas period we used the EFL Championship fixture of Rotherham United vs Norwich City as a big opportunity for a lot of people coming to the AESSEAL New York Stadium with a high expected attendance. We asked The Millers and our community for help, and they did not disappoint. We have received over 500 items, with our donation bins filled with much needed food and hygiene items, such as pasta, tinned items, long lasting food to toiletry essentials.
Jamie Noble, Head of Community shares his praise for the foodbank drive.
Jamie Noble, Head of Community “I would like to start by saying a big thank you to everyone who supported our efforts to help those in our community that need it the most and we’ve seen another example of the people of our town coming together to help others in our community.
“We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the response to our foodbank drive, which as allowed us to donate over 500 food and hygiene items to three fantastic charities in our town, who are there to help and support so many people all year round.”
“Our fantastic team here at RUCST – who have been instrumental in helping ensure those who need our help were cared for in our local area – are determined to do more, with a number of events planned in the coming weeks.”
