Sports College delighted to expand qualifications delivered at New York Stadium.
From September 2022, 16-19 year olds will have the opportunity to study the Pearson Extended Diploma in Sport, Fitness and Personal Training at the New York Stadium.
The qualification is equivalent in size to three A Levels and is intended for post-16 learners who wish to progress to employment in the Sport and Fitness sector as a personal trainer but whose aspirations may also be to progress to University courses. Learners taking this qualification will study eight mandatory units:
- Careers in the Sports and Active Leisure Industry
- Health, Wellbeing and Sport
- Fitness Skills Development
- Personal Trainer Skills Development
- Research Project in Sport
- Self-employment in Sport and Physical Activity
- Nutrition for Physical Performance
- Business and Technology in Personal Training.
The wide range of units allow learners to develop technical skills of working with groups and individual clients in a health and fitness environment. They will extend their skills and knowledge to work with individual clients to develop training sessions and programmes and give nutritional advice and guidance to clients to further support them in achieving their health goals such as losing excess body fat, or sporting goals such as being able to compete in a marathon. The Business and Technology in Personal Training unit helps learners to develop business acumen and to learn how to use technology effectively. This will support them in setting up and managing their own personal training business, which is a popular employment route for many professionals working as personal trainers.
To further enhance the experience for learners undertaking this course, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are delighted to work in partnership with Places Leisure and the English Institute of Sport to allow students the chance to use their first class fitness facilities while studying this qualification.
Rotherham Leisure Complex offers a state of the art leisure facility including a gym, sports hall, swimming pool and much more. Students studying this qualification will visit the Leisure Complex on a weekly basis as part of their timetable.
And we haven’t stopped there! Students will also have the opportunity to visit the English Institute of Sport on a regular basis throughout the year.
